Known as “the last of the California Beach Towns” for its breathtaking beaches & sunsets, quaint little downtown that’s home to the famous BROWN BUTTER COOKIE COMPANY & RUDDELL’S SMOKEHOUSE. Cayucos has an indescribable, almost nostalgic vibe to it. Every time I come to visit I feel like I’m stepping into a Nicholas Sparks book. Cayucos captures the essence of CALIFORNIA.

First time going to the magical Hearst Castle and I was impressed! The drive up was worth every penny. So much history about Art, Cinema, California, it was definitely educational. The views of the Coast are incredible and made me feel proud to be a Californian. There are different tours you can take depending on what you are most interested in. I did the Grand Rooms Tour so it covered the main highlights. I really want to go back and check out the castle during the evening, I hear that tour is really epic but not offered during the Winter.

We made a final stop in Cambria to have a late lunch at MOONSTONE BEACH BAR + GRILL. A place everyone needs to try when in Cambria. Delicious food & drinks with the perfect view. If you walk across the street you can walk on a beautiful pathway along the beach. And then see the magical Moonstone Beach! You have to see it for yourself!

After one week at the Coast it was time to head back to Los Angeles/Orange County and get back to reality. Being away especially in a place like Cayucos makes me feel like I’m in another life, or a permanent vacation. No worries, no stresses, no obligations, just enjoying. Sounds amazing right? But then I think about my purpose here in life and the goals I want to accomplish and I know my reality isn’t so bad. It’s pretty amazing actually. I have jobs that I love, and I get to live a life where I have the freedom to travel and go on adventures.
This other life, here in Cayucos, I will have one day but I want to earn it and be able to say I worked my butt off just to get here.
So to wrap up; Winter Break 2019 was great. I owe a lot of it to my Mervin Family, especially Mama Mervin who really values family time. No Christmas presents are needed when you have your family at your side.
Here’s to a new decade with endless possibilities! 2020 here we go!
