144 days since our Country changed forever. Here are some motivating ideas to help create a more optimistic and anxiety- free life!
“After adding everyone’s schedule on the calendar, I make sure that everyday I have some sacred time for myself, so I can recharge. I noticed every time I felt overwhelmed I would hold my breath. I had to learn to stop, relax and take long deep breaths and within seconds I would feel more clear and ready to deal with the situation in a more loving way.”
—Gisele Bündchen, model, actress, and environmentalist
Set a Morning Routine
Start your day by giving t h a n k s.
Before checking Instagram, Reddit, Facebook, or the news, take some time to p a u s e . Write down things you’re grateful for. Whatever you believe, spend some time reflecting. I love saging my house. I’ll be honest, I don’t know all the rules that apply to doing this but I love the smell and strongly believe it cleanses the air. After saging, I read my bible, and depending on my schedule that day I may or may not Meditate. If I don’t meditate in the morning, I always try & find time somewhere in the day to do it.
My favorite meditations are from the App, INSIGHT TIMER. You can use it for FREE or sign up. The best part is you can customize what kind of meditations you’re looking for. From Christian prayers to anxiety-relief mediations to soothing music. My go to is from VANESSA MICHELE.
Get Caffeinated…
Whatever your choice may be, getting that extra boost always gets me in a better mood. My morning go-to is a hot C a p p u c c i n o . I looooove my cappuccino maker from Keurig. I’ve saved so much money during quarantine by making my own coffees. And quiet honestly, I like the way my caps taste better than my old coffeeshops.
Clean Up Your Space….
Before Quarantine most of my work I did from home, so tidying up every morning has always been a thing for me. I’m not saying I do a full on deep clean every morning, but I like to stay consistent every day by putting things away, sweeping, making the bed, counter tops wiped down, etc. A clean space makes me feel happy.
Turn that MUSIC UP!
Did you know listening to music in the morning improves brain functionality? Studies also showed that listening to music lowers cortisol levels, which is basically your nature’s alarm system. Cortisol is released when you’re stressed out. Music has been shown to speed up recovery and allow for a lower psychological stress response. Whether you believe the studies or not, I personally believe music heals & it gets me through my days. Especially when I’m stressed, feeling anxious, or just in a mood.
I love using Spotify. They have so many playlists & they even start to customize playlists specifically designed for you. My go-to music for relaxing or when I’m in “work mode” are; Jazz, Bon Iver, The National, Sigur Ros, or “Relaxation Music”.
Yoga Time <3
If there’s one APP I suggest you paying for its, SWEAT created by Kayla Itsines. They have a variety of workouts, I used their Bikini Body Workouts to get in shape for my wedding, now I’ve moved over to their YOGA workouts and I love them. I haven’t hit the gym since February and surprisingly I have lost weight. Just from doing Yoga, daily hikes, and eating clean. With my desserts of course.
Build a Garden
Okay so I don’t take credit for any of this garden. Thanks to Quarantine, my husband found a love for gardening. It’s his new place for peace. I have to say, I love it. Our patio has turned into our little Secret Garden. So peaceful & we are growing and eating our own food! Saving that money any chance we get!
Decorate with Positivity…
Having inspirational quotes, messages, scriptures, whatever it may be, really helps keep me motivated when I’m at home. When I see it, I always pause, re-read it like 3 times, just so I can soak it in. On those tough days, a little motivation goes a long way.
Continue to Grow
Find a book that teaches you something. I’m currently reading BEST-SELF and learning so much. I highly recommend it. https://www.coachmikebayer.com
Not an Activity but get comfy socks
It’s worth it….it just feels good…your feet will thank you….that’s all.
GO OUTSIDE
Spend some time in nature. Daily walks & hikes, are so good for the soul. I’ve been going on daily 1hr hikes. I’m very grateful that I live close to a trail but just even walking around the block (practicing social distancing of course) is great. My old nutritionist told me, getting 10k steps a day maintains your weight and 12k steps is when you start to lose. I walk for at least an hour (breaking it up if needed, 30 mins/morning & 30 mins/night) and I’ve been happy with my body. I feel good, my mind feels at peace, and I’m somewhere different. A change of scenery is so refreshing, especially when you’re in Quarantine.
Treat Yo’Self
Whatever your schedule is, carve out some time to feel good. I love taking long, hot showers, eating junk food, a little secco here & there, and taking out the air mattress to watch movies in the living room. I love making Sundays my Funday. It gives me something to look forward to. I’ll be honest my long hot showers & eating the best brown butter sea salt cookies I kinda do on the regular…. but hey we’re in Quarantine. Right?
